PUBLIC NOTICE – Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) Availability Date: July 31, 2021
The Housing Authority of Maricopa County (HAMC) is accepting direct referrals from the Maricopa Continuum of Care (CoC) for EHV eligible populations listed below. If an individual believes they may be eligible for EHV assistance they may contact any Coordinated Entry Point within Maricopa County, a few are listed below. If a family believes they may be eligible for EHV assistance they may contact the Family Housing HUB at (602) 595-8700.
EHV Eligible Population
In order to be eligible for an EHV, an individual or family must meet one of four eligibility categories:
- Homeless
- At risk of homelessness
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking
- Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability.
EHV Process
EHVs are limited to the eligible population listed above and are managed through a direct referral process from the Maricopa Continuum of Care. HAMC is not accepting EHV applications to place individuals or families on a referral list. The EHV program is separate from the Housing Choice Voucher program.

Announcement of Waitlist Opening for Housing Authority of Maricopa County Rose Terrace Project Base Voucher Waitlist (4 & 5 Bedroom only) & Apache ASL Trails Project Base Voucher Waitlist (1 & 2 Bedroom only) Monday, May 10, 2021 @ 8:00 a.m. (PST) THROUGH Monday, May 24, 2021 @ 8 a.m. (PST)
Applications will be accepted online only for both Project Based Voucher (PBV) Waitlists starting 8:00 AM Monday May 10th, 2021, through Monday May 24th, 2021 at 8:00 AM. If less than 50 applications are accepted for Apache Trails by the posted close date/time, the waitlist opening for Apache will be extended until that number is reached.
Rose Terrace: 4‐5‐bedroom Applicants only will be added to the Rose Terrace PBV Waitlist. Applicants must add all household members to the application before submitting. Applicants not eligible for a 4‐5‐bedroom unit based on occupancy standards will have to reapply for assistance at another time. See the occupancy standards table below.
Apache ASL Trails Living: 1‐2‐bedroom Applicants only will be added to the Apache PBV Waitlist. Apache Trails ASL apartment community in Tempe, AZ provides housing to eligible households where the head, spouse or co‐head is 55 years of age or older, or is disabled. The community is accessible for persons with sensory and mobility impairments and has design features, services, and amenities beneficial for persons who are deaf, deaf‐blind, and hard of hearing. Applicants will be asked to certify that they have a verifiable need (a need which can be verified by a medical provider) for the services offered at the Apache ASL Trails Property. The applicants may apply on HAMC’s Applicant portal at https://portal.maricopahousing.org Registration is required, and applicants must login to apply. The application will only be available during the waitlist opening. Paper applications will not be accepted; however, if you require special assistance with the application process or you do not have internet access, you may contact the waitlist helpline Monday‐Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 602‐744‐(inactive waitlist closed); the waitlist helpline will not be active before or after the waitlist opening closes. The applicant portal allows those added to a waitlist to (1) check waiting list status, (2) reply to future ‘Save My Spot’ inquires, and (3) when pulled from the waitlist complete the formal application (‘Certification for Intake’) process online. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the general public that the Housing Authority of Maricopa County (HAMC) Public Housing Authority (PHA) Draft Annual Plan (2021-2022) is available for public review and comment. The draft plan includes changes in agency Housing Choice Voucher plans and policies.
The PHA Draft Annual Plan may be viewed on the HAMC website www.maricopahousing.org or at the Administrative Office located at 8910 N. 78th Avenue, Peoria, AZ. Written comments may be submitted at the HAMC located at 8910 W. 78th Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345, via email to LaQueena Soto at l.soto@maricopahousing.org or via the website www.maricopahouisng.org until the Board of Commissioners hears this plan at its regularly scheduled Committee meeting on Friday April 16, 2021 at 9:30 a.m., 8910 W. 78th Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345.
